Why music?

This past year I have been thinking about why I chose to pursue a life in music. I keep running into the memories of finally being able to express my feelings, ideas, and emote on the piano. I remember the moment it happened.

I also remember seeing pianists on the television - Glenn Gould and Vladimir Horowitz, in particular - and being mezmerized by what they could express. Their performances connected to me in deep ways.

It's good to go back and evaluate why you do what you do. For me, it has brought a measure of focus and concentration in my work. And so, why did I pursue a life in music? Because I wanted to express my deep feelings, ideas and music of composers that would connect with other people.

Why do you do what you do?

Until tomorrow,

Benjamin
